What Data Does Tanklet Store?

Tanklet stores the following information locally on your device:

• Your aquarium — fish, their names (chosen by you), species, colors, and care states (hunger, mood, health)
• Tank state — water quality, cleanliness, and placed decorations
• Game progress — coin and pearl balances, collection album, hatched eggs, breeding history, tank expansions
• App preferences — notification and sound settings, onboarding progress

All of this data is game state created by playing. None of it identifies you, and none of it is ever sent to us.

iCloud Sync

Tanklet syncs your save across your devices through Apple's iCloud (CloudKit), using your private iCloud database. This means:

• Your save is stored in your personal iCloud account, protected by your Apple ID
• Data is encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple
• No account creation is needed — it just works with your Apple ID
• We (Smart Kiitös Oy) have zero access to your iCloud data
• If iCloud is unavailable or signed out, the game works fully offline with a local save

What We Don't Collect

• No email addresses or phone numbers
• No account registration required
• No location data
• No contacts, camera, or microphone access
• No browsing or usage analytics
• No advertising — and no advertising identifiers
• No third-party tracking SDKs

Tank Photos

Tanklet can render a snapshot picture of your tank so you can save or share it. The image is generated entirely on your device and is only saved or shared through the standard iOS share sheet, with your explicit action each time. Tanklet does not access your photo library or camera on its own.

Notifications

Tanklet uses local notifications (on your device) for optional care reminders — for example when your fish get hungry. These are scheduled and delivered entirely on your device, are off until you enable them, and are never sent to any server.

Home Screen Widget

The Tanklet widget shows a snapshot of your tank on the Home Screen, Lock Screen, or in StandBy. The snapshot is shared between the app and the widget through a private App Group container on your device — it never leaves it.

Purchases & Subscriptions

In-app purchases (pearls, the Tanklet+ subscription) are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store any payment information (credit card numbers, billing addresses, etc.). Apple processes all transactions according to their privacy policy.

Third-Party Services

The only external service used is Apple's CloudKit for private save sync, which is governed by Apple's privacy policy.

Data Retention & Deletion

• All your data is stored on your device and/or in your iCloud account
• Deleting the app removes all local data
• To remove iCloud data, delete Tanklet's data from your iCloud storage in iOS Settings
• We have no servers and retain no copies of your data

Children's Privacy

Tanklet is a calm, family-friendly game, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone — including children under 13. The app requires no personal information to play; the fish names you enter are stored locally and in your own iCloud, and are never transmitted to us.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
